PURPOSE:To freely execute maintenance of knowledge base without stopping actual operation control in a blast furnace by dividing an inference action part in a knowledge engineering system into two systems of on-line operation system and test system. CONSTITUTION:The inference action part in the knowledge engineering system in divided into two systems of the on-line operation system and the test system, and in the on-line operation system, a data base directory area 2, inference engine 3 and a knowledge base action module directory area 4 are arranged and in the test system, a data base directory area 5, inference engine 6 and a knowledge base action module directory area 7 are arranged. By this constitution, the inference for the blast furnace operation control is always acted with the on-line action system and the correction of the knowledge base and the maintenance of the test line, debug, etc., are executed with the test system. By this method, the correction of the knowledge base and the maintenance to the new construction, etc., can be freely executed without stopping actual operation control in a blast furnace.
