The elementary vehicle includes a rigid chassis (1) to which there are articulated, each about a longitudinal axis (12) two half-axles (2) each one associated with a wheel (5). Each half-axle (2) consists of a rigid lower wishbone (3) carrying the stub axle (4) of the wheel (5) and a rigid upper wishbone (8) swinging about the axis (12). Between the wishbones (3, 8) are located damping means (9, 10). A thrust cylinder (11) mounted between the chassis (1) and the upper wishbone (8), controlled by an attitude detector, adjusts the attitude of the chassis (1) and the suspension height of the corresponding wheel (5). The chassis (1) of several elementary vehicles may be coupled together, particularly with articulation about various axes in order to form complex vehicles with several sets of wheels which are particularly well suited to all-terrain use.
