PURPOSE:To securely eliminate time error even if a plurality of computers are installed by a method wherein correction is made based on difference in counted time of a counter value of clock frequency and counted time of a real time clock element. CONSTITUTION:At the time of calibrating a real time clock element 15 housed in a computer, with an instruction from a CPU 13, a counter 16 counts, for a constant period, pulse frequency with a.c. power source frequency signals converted by a clock converter 12. The CPU 13 reads the counted value of the counter 16 and stores in a memory 17 after the counter 16 counts the pulse frequency. The CPU 13 measures elapsed time of the real time clock element 15 wherein its counted value is equal to that of clock frequency of the counter 16. Then, measurement time of clock frequency and the real time clock element 15 are used to calculate time difference from the elapsed time, correcting the real time clock element 15 with the time difference used as a correction value.
