The present invention relates to a new substance with biological activity and its preparation process. /P P A new substance, called Islet Activating Protein, is obtained by culturing a microorganism of the genus Bodetella, this substance having the power to activate insulin secretion and improve glucose tolerance in mammals; this substance has characteristic physicochemical properties, and forms a single band by electrophoresis on a polyacrylamide disc. The invention applies in particular to a substance useful as a medicament for the preventive and curative treatment of diabetes.
