The main wing of the hang glider is mounted on the tubes (3, 4) which carry the vertical member (2) and the lower frame (5). The vertical member (5) carries a pocket (16) which is normally held closed by the Bowden cable (18) pulling on the sliding ring (13). Should the glider get into a dangerous dive the pilot operates the lever (23) which releases the catch (21) which, in turn, releases a second sliding ring (19) and consequently the first sliding ring (13). This ring (13) rises up the tube (2) until it reaches the stop (9) allowing the wind to blow into the pocket (16) and create a force which pulls the glider out of the dive.
