PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a sieved L-HPC having an improved yield while maintaining the fluidity of hydroxypropyl cellulose (L-HPC) having a low degree of sieving and the tablet characteristics after tableting. SOLUTION: L-HPC having a hydroxypropoxy group content of 5 to 16% by mass is sieved using a sieve shaker in which the sieve surface moves horizontally to obtain a first residual L-HPC on the sieve. , The first sieving step of obtaining the first sieve-passing L-HPC and the second sieving of the residual L-HPC on the first sieve using a sieve shaker in which the sieving surface moves vertically. The second sieving step of obtaining the residual L-HPC on the sieve and the second L-HPC passing through the sieve, and the sieving L by combining the L-HPC passing through the first sieve and the residual L-HPC on the second sieve.
