The invention relates to a surgical gown having a material sheet bounded by a first lateral edge extending preferably approximately in a rectilinear manner and a second lateral edge extending preferably approximately parallel to the first lateral edge, an upper edge connecting the lateral edges together, and a lower edge connecting the lateral edges together, having a first sleeve that extends from a first opening in the material sheet and is attached to the material sheet, having a second sleeve that extends from a second opening in the material sheet and is attached to the material sheet, wherein the first opening is arranged between the first lateral edge and the second opening and the openings are arranged closed to the upper edge than to the lower edge, wherein, in the region of the upper half of at least one lateral edge, a fitting aid forming an extension of the material sheet is provided.
