PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for distinguishing Fusobacterium nucleatum in samples at strain levels.SOLUTION: The invention provides a method, for at least one region selected from the following groups, comprising detecting the presence or absence of CRISPR-Cas sequence including the region and the length of the sequence. In DNA derived from a sample: a CRISPR region presents at the 3' side of specific Cas genes present in a specific sequence of Fusobacterium nucleatum subsp. animalis genome or a corresponding region; a CRISPR region present at the 3' side of specific Cas genes present in a specific sequence of Fusobacterium nucleatum subsp. polymorphum genome or a corresponding region; a CRISPR region present at the 3' side of specific Cas genes present in a specific sequence of Fusobacterium nucleatum subsp. vincentii genome or a corresponding region; and a CRISPR region present at the 3' side of specific Cas genes present in another specific sequence of Fusobacterium nucleatum subsp. polymorphum genome or a corresponding region.SELECTED DRAWING: None
