摘要

Low-quality roughage is the primary ingredient in ruminant feedstuff in developing countries.In general, however, animals cannot utilize low-quality roughage efficiently due to its low nutrient values.Some researches indicated that exposing animals to low-quality roughage in their early life stage improved intake and digestibility of low-quality roughage later (Provenza and Balph 1988, Distel et al.1994).However, the mechanism of this process has not been clear.Thus, in this study we analyzed the digestion and nitrogen metabolism of lambs to determine how such early feeding experience affects these traits in lambs.
