摘要

Having examined the value orientation in Western and Chinese culture and its relationship with motivation, this paper argues that Western theories of motivation are based on cultural assumptions derived from values specific to Western society and therefore have less validity in explaining the process of motivation in Chinese cultural context. Further, this paper reviews the available literature on cultural dimensions of management and examine the impact of Chinese religious and philosophies on employee motivation in Chinese managerial context.
