The current determination method of optimum asphalt content for porous asphalt concrete has several obvious deficiencies, such as big error of determine infection, great influence from artificial subjective factors, not exact OAC selection and so on. Therefore, on the basis of analyzing and summarizing the current method, the author put forward a new determination method of OAC for porous asphalt concrete. This method adopted 15% scattering loss and 0.3% drain-down dosage as control standards, and fully considered the objectivity as well as asphalt film thickness in mixture design. Besides that, the new method also put forward a specific formula to calculate OAC. Used the two methods to compare three successfully paved porous asphalt concrete pavements in our country, and the results showed that the OAC determined by new method is the same or close to the OAC practically adopted in these expressways, moreover the new method is more simple and objective.
