The growing interest regarding organizational commitment, among both academics and practitioners, may be emphasized by the great number of published articles and the numerous empirical studies conducted in this matter. Despite the increased attention on this construct, there is no consensus on its definition, or agreement, on a useful operational index of it. The present paper aims to measure the employees' level of organizational commitment in companies from the Western Region of Romania, both overall and on the three dimensions of organizational commitment addressed in the literature. In this approach we have used the descriptive research; the method used was the transversal study, based on sample survey questionnaire. The research conducted allowed us to reach the conclusion that among the employees interviewed, the organizational commitment is situated at a medium level. The analysis performed on the dimensions of the construct reveal that respondents are rather emotionally attached to the organization; this dimension recorded a score above the average score of the construct. Continuance commitment recorded the lowest score, indicating that respondents do not consider that they face with lacks of alternatives if they are facing the situation of giving up their current job. Normative commitment has a score approaching to the average score of the construct, leading to the conclusion that the social norm plays a medium role in the formation of organizational commitment.
