This study examines the perception of cabin safety knowledge and attitude forelementary school students before and after launching a designed course, and toassess the effectiveness of its cabin safety education program. The necessity of cabinsafety education has been discussed in both academic and practical perspectives;however, based on our knowledge, few follow-up programs have been developed.This research was designed based on airlines’ cabin safety briefing to thepassengers with more detailed know what, know how, and know when and why. Theprogram consists of three stages: lecture, demonstration and film. A two-step surveywas conducted for this empirical study. The designed survey included questionnairewith multiple choice and graphical illustrations was sent to the students prior to thelaunching of this program. After completion, we use the same survey to assess itseffectiveness. Both urban and rural elementary school students were included in thisstudy.The results show that after delivering the designed cabin safety education course,the students have indeed improved in both safety knowledge and attitude, especiallyin knowledge. The demographic background, such as gender and grade would affectthe degree of students’ realization of this program. This study also suggests that amore diversify learning program for cabin safety is needed for elementary schoolstudents.
