摘要

Ventricular remodeling and progression to heart failure after myocardial infarction are persistent problems in both adult and elderly patients. It is known that myocardial infarction triggers healing and optimal healing is essential for a favorable outcome. Several recommended post-infarction therapies are known to impact the healing process but therapy aimed at post-infarct healing is lacking. Although preclinical studies suggest that aging is associated with impaired healing and adverse remodeling, and several matrix proteins can be targeted to improve post-infarct healing, data on these proteins during healing and aging is lacking. We therefore systematically addressed this question in our study.
