A Mass Spectrometric method using MS~(E) for the determination of Hemoglobin concentration in whole blood samples has been described. Where the sample contains a natural variant, observation of peptide trend intensities can provide correction factors for initial measurements. From this limited sample set, good correlation with hospital measurements was obtained. Future work will involve analysis of greater numbers of samples in order to build a database of candidate correction peptides for naturally occurring Hemoglobin variants.
