Using 8 solar resource stations located less than 3km apart on the UC San Diego campus, the power content of fluctuations at various timescales and the associated reduction in fluctuations due to averaging multiple sites was examined. The power content at timescales ranging from 2s to 4096s was computed for both one site and for the average of all sites available for every day in 2010 by applying a top hat wavelet transform to the clear-sky index. The power content of the average was always less than the power content of the one site, though the amount of reduction in power content decreased with increasing time interval. The power content reductions from averaging various numbers of sites showed that the benefit of adding one additional site decreased as the number of sites already being averaged increased.
