Growth hormone (GH) initiates diverse responses in various target tissues by binding to its specific receptor located on the plasma membrane of cells [1]. In contrast to the extensive characterization of growth hormone receptors (GHR) in mammalian tissue, little information is available concerning the properties and distribution of GHR in fixh [2], especially the freshwater fish in China. We have screened the concentration of liver GHR of freshwater fish in China and found that the snakeheaded fish liver contained higher concentration of GHR than those of other fish. The present study was conducted to characterize and identify GHR in snakeheaded fish liver membrane (SFLM).
