With the advancement of computer technology training organizations now have the opportunity to deploy much higher fidelity training environments at lower cost. These tools also offer significant advantages in portability. However, if the training program does not take into account the strengths and weaknesses of the technology students will not receive more effective training. In an era of rapidly evolving technology seen both in personal devices that are used in our daily lives, and the upcoming introduction of new airplane types to the marketplace, the question for many instructors around the world is "How are we going to teach all this neat stuff?" Similarly, for students everywhere "How are we going to learn all this neat stuff?" When it comes to instructional design, technology, for all its glory must still be bounded in proven teaching methodologies. In this brief is a review of an Integrated Training approach, an overview of two new emerging training technologies: Simulation Based Training (SBT) and the Flat Panel Trainer (FPT) and how having these incorporated into your training programs can improve flight training.
