The enhancement of chemical reactions of lubricants or environmental molecules is known as tribochemical reactions. It results from many factors; high temperature, nascent surface, exo-electron emission, negative-ion-radical formation, tribo-plasma, and so on. Additionally these factors have influence on the others. So they are too complicated to differentiate them, especially when a reaction is composed of many elementary processes. Here we have selected one of the most simple reactions to facilitate the analysis; decomposition of nitrous oxide. We will demonstrate that the decomposition of nitrous oxide is enhanced by the friction of many materials.
