Chongqing Light Rail is a major transport facility. Anchoring screws are important parts to connect Light-Rail's girders and piers. Their health directly affects the safety of Light-Rail operation. The length and diameter of an anchoring screw is 945 mm and 36 mm respectively, its structure and the installation position is shown in Figure 1(a). It can be seen from the figure that most of the screw is hidden in the pier anchor box and is unable to be directly viewed. With Light-Rail operation, due to long-term service, complex stress, corrosion and other factors, the anchoring screws may appear fatigued or fractured. In order to understand the anchoring screw's fatigue and fracture situation in the anchor box, it is necessary to design for a set of anchoring screws health monitoring system, to ensure the safety of Light-Rail operation.
