Introduction Practically all of today's methods to estimate terrain vehicle mobility are based on a vehicle's capability of "to go through" or "not to go through" the given terrain conditions. The methods' analytical foundations do not allow researchers and engineers to estimate and control mobility in real time while a vehicle is experiencing difficult terrain condition. In this section, a new method to estimate mobility of a multi-wheel vehicle is considered based on a mobility level for each drive wheel. The method utilizes stochastic terrain characteristics and new agile tire slippage characteristics, which create fundamentals for agile tire slippage control and thus vehicle mobility enhancement.
