Under the guide of Intercultural Communication Studies, this paper analyzes reports in the New York Times on China and Japan over disputed islands. On the basis of Critical Discourse Analysis, this paper illustrates ideology and value orientations implied in news discourses, and exposes the true intention of western media to invisibly control people's ideologies and values by discourse privilege.
