Contents and elemental composition of various humus components in orchard soils according to different cultivation years in the northern China

This paper presents the study of typical orchard soils under long-term freeze-thaw conditions in the northern China and analyzed the contents of various combined humus components and elemental composition characteristics in orchard soils with different cultivation years. The analysis results indicated that the contents of the heavy fraction organic carbon, the loosely combined humus, and the stably combined humus were increased year by year and that the content of the tightly combined humus was decreased year by year. After 60-year cultivation, the content of the loosely combined humus was increased by 17.74% and the content of the tightly combined humus was decreased by 11.13%. The contents of humus acid (HA) and fulvic acid (FA) in the loosely combined humus and the stably combined humus as well as the ratio of humus acid to fulvic acid (HA/FA ratio) is gradually increase. In the loosely combined humus, the contents of N and C in FA and HA is increase and the contents of H and O is decrease. In the stably combined humus in orchard soils, the contents of N, C and H in HA is higher than those in FA and the content of O in HA is lower than that in FA.
