Increasingly generated spatial data provides us with the opportunity to make similar region search possible. However, due to region's scale or rotation transform, it is difficult to find similar regions effectively. To deal with this problem, we introduce modified Zernike moments and use them to define region's distribution feature. On the basis of these, we propose a quadtree based approach to search similar regions. The proposed approach employs two kinds of pruning strategy in order to achieve efficient query. Experiment results show that our approach is both effective and efficient, and outperforms existing approach.
