In this work, metallic tools are surface modified with different perfluoroalkylsilanes from tlie liquid phase. In particular, these molecular coatings are investigated with respect to their anti-adhesive properties, durability and longterm stability. Steel surfaces are treated with acid (dilute HNO_3) to increase tlie density of surface hydroxyl group. Tlie modification of tlie metal surface is achieved by subsequent reaction of tlie surface hydroxyl groups with organo-silanes. The characterization of the modified surfaces is performed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and contact angle measurements. Tlie work aims at strategies to reduce demolding forces in injection molding processes.
