摘要

As with many other states, California is looking to protect the environment. Governments have passed several laws to prohibit, find alternatives to, or notify the public about chemicals of concern. In California, Proposition 65 added wood dust warnings for potential cancer to go wherever wood is sold. There are also Pentachlorophenol warnings that utilities must send to customers and the Arsenic settlement from years ago requires labeling of CCA-treated wood.Treated Wood Waste (TWW) was caught up in this concern over chemicals and is fisted as a hazardous waste unless it is disposed into an approved Class II or Class HI composite lined landfill. The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC)conducted studies of TWW in 2008,2011, and 2019. The industry has legislation in California this year to modify the language of the law. A full summary of the issues and impacts were discussed in the presentation.
