Abstract: A series of hydroxychlorins and another of approximately ega@-carboxyalkyloxy derivatives have been prepared from chlorophyll $alpha@, and their potential photosensitizing ability for the photodynamic therapy of cancer tested in vitro by the MTT assay. The results show that the monohydroxychlorin VI, because of its high photoactivity and its low dark toxicity, is the most promising compound of these series. !18
