This paper presents the findings from a project about howrninternational students seek and acquire information duringrntheir settlement in an unknown geo-spatial environment.rnThrough semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, andrncognitive mapping with twenty international students, thisrnstudy examines their information needs, informationrnsources, and settlement experiences in the host country.rnFindings of the study include their (1) focus on acquiringrnbasic, survival-related information; (2) active use ofrninternet-based information sources including online/mobilernmaps; (3) information behavior of wandering around andrninformation encountering; (4) co-national social networksrnplaying a key role as information sources. Implications arerndiscussed in ways to further our understanding ofrninternational students’ information behavior and promote itsrnimprovement.
