摘要

This poster presents an exploration of parental perceptionsrnof the everyday life information behaviors of childrenrnbetween 4 and 8 years of age. Twenty-three parents/rncaregivers completed a survey about their children’srninformation behaviors related to their hobbies and interests.rnFindings indicate that young children exhibit a heavyrnreliance on interpersonal interactions for informationrnseeking and information sharing, while information use isrnmore likely to be an individual activity. Informationrnbehaviors were evident in children who engaged in arnvariety of free-time activities, though not all free-timernactivities resulted in reported engagement in informationrnbehaviors. The findings of this study indicate that childrenrnas young as 4 years of age engage in observablerninformation behaviors related to their everyday free-timernactivities. Additional research is needed to betterrnunderstand young children’s everyday life informationrnbehaviors.
