This session will use queer theory to raise importantrnquestions about the role of information science in relationrnto queer communities. Using examples taken from bothrnliterary and popular culture, the session will look at thernpractices of classification in information systems, and howrnthose practices, even when they attempt to facilitate accessrnto resources for LGBTQ communities, ignore disjunctionsrnand distortions that, far from being a barrier to access, formrna fundamental aspect of queer expression.
