This case study deals with the improvements of new assembly lines for finishing washing machines and tumble dryers at MIELE & Cie GmbH & Co. For this automation is not efficient. Therefore the old and the new assemlby lines are defined by manual handling. The working conditions get to a gist factor in planning and realization of the new assembly lines. The example demonstrates that the full integration of ergonomic aspects in the planning and realization leads to optimized systems with high productivity.
