In recnet years there has been an upsurge in interest in developing automatic systems for the measurement of mineralogical parameters and in the application of this information to solving mineral processing problems. The present paper describes the works of using Image Processing System (IPS) to collect quantitative mineralogical information. The types of data which can be measured by IPS include mineral modal composition, textural parameters such as mineral grain size or mineral associations, and particle liberation.
