The US Air Force's Bombardier E-11A Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) communication relay aircraft will be maintained by Northrop Grumman under a $52.3 million one-year contract announced on January 15. This is an extension of a contract originally awarded in November 2012. All four of the US Air Force's E-11 As are currently operated by the 430th Expeditionary Electronic Combat Squadron based at Kandahar air base in Afghanistan (see BACN Assets Assigned to 430th EECS, April 2013, p9).
