The recent power outage at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International and weather related problems at John F. Kennedy International airports demonstrate the ongoing need for integrated communications systems, plans and procedures during disruptions and crises. Many airports have transitioned from a traditional airport emergency communications plan to more comprehensive crisis communications, according to the Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP),an US-based, industry-driven initiative that develops solutions for airports.
