The National Organization to Insure a Sound-controlled Environment (N.O.I.S.E.), which represents local elected officials of communities impacted by aircraft noise, wants the airline members of the NextGen Advisory Committee (NAC) to better understand the issue of community engagement on aviation noise. So at the June 21 virtual NAC meeting, NOISE President and NAC member Brad Pierce suggested that the NOISE leadership and staff organize two to three meetings between now and October “with FAA, aviation industry stakeholders, airports, and carriers” to discuss what has worked at specific airports regarding community engagement, overarching policies on the issue, and how stakeholders can partner on solutions to aircraft noise impacts.
