摘要

Stephen denning's squirrel Inc. is a readable exploration of how the power of narrative can effect a turnaround when a good company experiences a potentially fatal decline. Denning exemplifies his points via a story about a squirrel-run company-Squirrel Inc. To reduce losses and protect its stakeholders' interests, Squirrel Inc. is considering transforming from a nut-burying to a nut-storing organization. Denning's preface sets out his book's overall strategy and organization. In it, he explains that he has written Squirrel Inc. to show how to use storytelling to address leadership challenges. He divides the book into three main parts. The first part, chapters 1 and 2, shows how to tell a story "that can spark transformational change in an organization" (p. xiv). Chapters 3 to 10 constitute the second part.
