摘要

India and the United States of America have signed an agreement designed to promote co-operation in Science and Technology. The signing took place in the Treaty Room at US State Department. The Secretary, Ms. Rice predicted that the pact would encourage co-operation in a range of fields including basic sciences, space, energy, nanotechnology as well as health and information technology. Mr. Kapil Sibal, Union Minister for Science and Technology Govt. of India described the agreement as historic and a major milestone. He said that he was proud of the Indian Scientific community, which despite the meagre resources in R&D, our scientists have done i us proud. But he thought that the time has come when I the country must invest more in R & D.
