A39.2-kg,castratedmaleYucatanminipig(Susscrofadomestica)waspresentedforenrollmentinacoronaryarterystudy.AngiographyrevealedananomalousrightcoronaryarteryoriginatingfromtheleftsinusofValsalva.Theleftanteriordescending,leftcircumflex,andanomalousrightcoronaryarterieswereimplantedwithmetallicstentswithoutcomplications.Theminipigremainedonthestudyfor3mountilitreacheditspredeterminedstudyendpoint,duringwhichtimeitshowednoclinicalsignsofdisease.Histologicexaminationoftheimplantedcoronaryarteriesrevealednodifferencesbetweenthenormal(leftanteriordescendingandleftcircumflexarteries)andtheanomalousrightcoronaryartery.Swineareimportantmodelsforcoronaryresearch.Althoughseveralcasesofanomaloushumancoronaryarterieshavebeendocumented,thecurrentcaseisthefirstreportofacoronaryarteryanomalyinaminipig.
