The Latest: Croatia has published its latest National Broadband Plan 2021-2027, aiming at accelerating broadband rollout and uptake across the country. The goals set out by the new plan are in line with the European Union’s connectivity targets, which each member state is required to achieve by 2025. Implications: The new plan will support a much-needed acceleration of broadband development in Croatia. The country lags behind its European peers and sits at the bottom of the EU’s DESI Index in terms of both fixed and mobile broadband. A more effective broadband rollout is not only required by EU’s targets, but will also be key for Croatia to successfully transition towards a stronger digital economy.
