摘要

The Senate unanimously passed a bill to maintain technical assistance and training programs intended to help small and rural water systems comply with Safe Drinking Water Act requirements. The Grassroots Rural and Small Community Water Systems Act (S. 611) reauthorizes the training and technical assistance program, administered by the Environmental Protection Agency, at $15 million per year from 2015 through 2020. The program hasn't been officially reauthorized since 2004, although it has been appropriated funds by Congress each year since. Through the program, the EPA awards competitive grants-usually four to nine-to organizations that provide technical assistance to small public water systems, wastewater systems and private well owners in order to help them improve their management practices and remain in compliance with SDWA regulations.
