Only when the European Commission's (EC's) Q&A on the EU Food Information Regulation was published was it revealed that the EC had ruled out the use of the term'guideline daily amounts' (GDAs).The term 'reference intake' (Rl) must be used instead. For some 10 years, all discussions in the UK have referred to GDAs and we all thought we knew what GDA meant.
