Persons whose activities are controlled or directed by an employer and who work necessarily and primarilyrnfor the employer's benefit are "employees" within the meaning of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).rnAlthough the statute defines "employ" as including to "suffer or permit" to work, that phrase was not intended tornstamp as employees persons who, without promise or expectation of compensation, but solely for their personalrnpurpose or pleasure, participate in activities carried on by other persons or work on an employer's premises.
