This international symposium would have been part of ICOLD's Annual Meeting in 2020 which had to be postponed as a result of the global pandemic. It was instead organized in hybrid format by the Indian National Committee (INCOLD) with ICOLD's Asia-Pacific Group, under the auspices of ICOLD, and in collaboration with India's Central Water Commission, the Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP), and the National Hydrology Project (NHP). The major supporting organisations were the Ministry of Jal Shakti and the Ministry of Power.
