Copyright issues come up on a daily basis in music libraries, both in regard to the protection of a work itself and the protection of a specific edition. The implications of copyright are especially strong because the legal statutes which deal with the reproduction of copyrighted works and editions for personal use and scholarly use are considerably more restrictive for written music than for books and journal articles. This article offers an overview of the most important legal regulations and delineates the problems which may arise both for the staff and the users of music libraries.%Fragen des Urheberrechts spielen im musikbibliothekarischen Alltag immer wieder eine Rolle, wobei sowohl der Schutz des Werkes an sich als auch der Schutz bestimmter Ausgaben zu be-achten ist. In der Praxis fällt dabei besonders ins Gewicht, dass die gesetzlichen Bestimmungen für die Vervielfältigung geschützter Werke und Ausgaben zum eigenen und wissenschaftlichen Ge-brauch bei Notenausgaben wesentlich restriktiver sind als bei Büchern und Aufsätzen. Der Aufsatz gibt einen Überblick über die wichtigsten rechtlichen Regelungen und thematisiert dabei auch Probleme, die sich für Mitarbeiter(innen) und Nutzer(innen) von Musikbibliotheken aus diesen Regelungen ergeben können.
