摘要

One of the many complexities of digital publishing today lies in the relationship established between work and author. Where earlier online media tended to focus on the structural nature of texts and the discourse networks that connected them, more recently the author has made a comeback. Never before have we been offered so much information about writers, musicians, and other celebrities, and today it is rare to receive a work outside of a context prepared in advance by social media or other forms of online conversation. We-Aggregate.org proposes a model for scholarly discourse in this new environment. Ostensibly a website for the dissemination of work on architectural history, it is particularly difficult to pin down. Is it a web presence for a community of emerging architectural historians? A digital journal for advanced scholarship? A bulletin board for current events in the field? Such taxonomic difficulties are, in fact, at the very heart of a project that attempts to rethink the way historical scholarship is produced and disseminated.
