Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) are common genetic variations that are estimated to occur once every 100-300 base pairs. These subtle genetic variations underpin why individuals respond differently to drugs, diseases and other environmental factors. In order to detect and catalogue SNPs quickly and accurately, high-throughput systems are being developed and new reagents, microarrays and services are becoming available.
