Channel-linked neurotransmitter receptors are membrane-bound heterooligomers made up of distinct, although homologous, subunits. They mediate chemo- electrical signal transduction and its regulation via intercon- version between multiple conformations that exhibit distinct pharmacological properties and biological activities.
