ISO 9001 requires a companys productr design and development process tor include specific components [1]. Theser include design and development planning,r design input, design output, designr review, design verification and validation,r and design transfer. The more ourr students become familiar with each ofr these components, the better preparedr they will be for careers in the medicalr device industry. Ideally, capstone designr projects would involve each of these components.r In situations where this is notr possible, lectures regarding the detailsr of each design control component can ber included in the capstone course.
