In 2010, global production of chemical fibers increased by 5.9 million tons or 12% to 53.8 million tons. The worldwide production of textile fibers increased by 8.5 million tons or 12% to 80.1 million tons. In total, natural fiber production expanded to 26.3 million tons (+11 %).
