A CONTEMPORARY PRESERVICE : TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION PROGRAM

While the final program curricula may still be a bit blurry, what is clear at this point is that a change to technology and engineering education is not only necessary, but imminent. From President Obama's "Educate to Innovate" campaign to ITEEA's Standards for Technological Literacy document to independent groups such as those educators from Duke, Tufts, Oklahoma State, and the University of Colorado who developed TeachEngineering. org, there is a groundswell of activity to move the body of knowledge-and the entire discipline of technology and engineering education-forward. As the body of technology and engineering education scholars continues to debate, review, discuss, analyze, and design curriculum and programs for the improvement of the discipline, it is important to remember that, with the incredible speed of technological evolution, change will continue to be the norm. As educators, it is incumbent upon us to adapt to and accommodate this evolutionary process.
